"A little bit of math: vaccine efficacy" With reports from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna that the preliminary analysis of their data suggests a 95% effective vaccine (one each for each company) [1], I found myself wondering about the mathematics of vaccine effectiveness. There were some small details about how numbers were calculated from the data that were lost to me. This…

@lnxw48a1 @fribbledom @rayroy Yea, I just pointed that out.
Sometimes coincidences happen, especially approximate ones.

@fribbledom @rayroy Technically not correct – a mile is defined through a metre: it is 1609.344 metres, that's the definition.
But they did evolve separately, I get your point. It's a fun coincidence.

"The Horror of COVID-19 in One Chart" There are a lot of idiots on social media. This will come as no surprise to most of you (to the rest â*¦ well, chalk up one more). Received a reply from Senator Dianne Feinstein.
I understand you are opposed to the [EARN-IT Act of 2020]. which I introduced with Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), and Josh Hawley (R-MO) on March 5, 2020.
She goes on to say that the bill targets online child sexual exploitation.
Isn't it funny that every time the government wants more power, it is either fighting child porn or terrorism?

I didn't check, but memory says Senator Feinstein was also a supporter of the #SOPA / #PIPA bills as well as #EARN-IT. I think it is time for her to go.

>She goes on to say that the bill targets online child sexual exploitation.
The "think about the children" argument. I'm sick of it. Children would be much more secure if their parents would know how to use a bloody computer/internet connection.
>it is either fighting child porn or terrorism?
It's easier to appease uninformed people than just being honest.

I always suspect when I find a block of documented code in the middle of a file that barely has any comments. It often is the kludge block (:
