This is Copernicus, a prominent crater on our side of the moon. 58 miles wide and visible to the naked eye, it is one of my favorite places to "visit". Last night I captured around 20,000 individual photos of the moon, that were stitched together to create one image with far more detail than otherwise possible. The color you see was not edited. My camera is more sensitive to the red portion of visible light, so it revealed pink hues in the clouds that would be otherwise invisible. The first storm of the fall left me this parting gift, a glorious view of the setting moon framed by dramatic clouds. This is a composite HDR image created by stacking around 6,000 images to recreate what my eyes saw through the telescope. #Astrophotography #space #opteampic.twitter.com/oXofwbXTGr
