will #gnome be replaced with #xfce as the default desktop in !debian ? http://ur1.ca/9x1xj
-
@cpunk, why we need something like "default #desktop" in !debian??? Debian is anti-default system :) You are #free, as all users :)
-
@cpunk The git commit comment seems to indicate that this could still be up for discussion. http://2tu.us/68kw
-
@cpunk Changing the default destop post freeze to a desktop only 7% of #Debian users install http://2tu.us/68kx seems odd to me.
-
@trashheap, "!debian does not have a well-defined procedure for making such choices" :) That's great! We are not a puppets :)
-
@trashheap, I meant, !debian is not !ubuntu - we are freedom lovers... Debian should be sysytem without ANY #GUI "defaults" :)
-
@lukaso666 "though it certianly has well-defined procedures for reviewing them." Seems to imply to me that this is still being discussed.
-
@trashheap, yeah, discussion is necessary, but for me presonally: we need !debian, not a defined #GUI I think so...
-
#gnome, #kde, #xfce... that's only add-ons to the system... I use #AwesomeWM and I know so good - that's not good choice for #newbies
-
@lukaso666 #Debian ships with lots of defaults. It ships with a commandline tool to manage defaults. Why a default shell but not a GUI?
-
@trashheap, because default user uses a default GUI ... you can change a default shell - always, same as environment :)
-
@trashheap, you can install !debian as raw system and then YOU decide about all GUI stuff :)
-
@lukaso666 shure, !debian is free and you can switch to other windowmanagers easily - but #gnome is installed as default these days.
-
@trashheap - I know, because of this my posting had a question mark at the end ...
-
@lukaso666 defaults and freedom of choice are not a contradiction.
-
@bentinc, of course! But usually, all default stuff is for ALL, so for NO ONE :)
-
I don't think I agree on this one. On the contrary: Because e.g. #Debian has sensible defaults, one is capable of customizing where needed.
-
otherwise we all had to use linux from scratch! ;)
-
@lukaso666 That makes little sense. :-)
