Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman)'s status on Friday, 23-Feb-2024 04:36:47 EST Bob Jonkman Oh, now you're just confusing things even more. I was going to reply to @clacke's original post that I've seen both CDNpoli and slightly fewer CANpoli hashtags (I subscribe to both), as well as CNDpoli -- probably for "Canada Poli".
But now @lnxw48a1 pops in with *currency* abbreviations, and that's properly represented as $4.50CAD (maybe "CAnadian Dollar"?)
So should there also be a CADpoli?

Bob Jonkman (bobjonkmangreen)'s status on Saturday, 20-Jan-2024 05:09:51 EST Bob Jonkman I was saddened to hear that Nora Fueten passed away on 10 January 2024. Nora was my campaign manager for the 2019 federal election. Nora was highly qualified for this, as she had previous run in the federal elections in 2011 and 2008 gaining 7% of the vote, the highest ever achieved by a Green Party candidate in Brantford-Brant. During the 2019 campaign Nora was indefatigable. … -

Wait, you or Dr. Cooley are at Perimeter? Giving any public lectures?
If so, I'll hop on my bike to attend!

Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman)'s status on Thursday, 08-Jun-2023 15:21:12 EDT Bob Jonkman Several other authors of software that accesses the Twitter API have come to that conclusion as well. When #Twidere, my phone app to access Twitter stopped accessing Twitter back in January I pretty much abandoned Twitter. I still check Twitter with its WebUI, less than once a week, but I no longer post or engage there. But Twitter still gets used by some organizations I do work… -
Stephen Sekula (steve)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Jun-2023 18:00:16 EDT Stephen Sekula I finally had a chance to figure out why my social bridging software was no longer able to talk to Twitter. Indeed, it's because under Twitter's new leadership, python-twitter has been deemed as violating something in their terms of service. It says I can submit a ticket, but they make it impossible to figure out how to do that (the service portal is a loop). So I am deci… -
Stephen Sekula (steve)'s status on Wednesday, 07-Jun-2023 21:50:18 EDT Stephen Sekula Got weirdly hung up on a simple problem involving the Poisson equation, and still have not resolved it. Who knew an isotropic collisionless gas in a spherically symmetric gravitational potential would be so IRRITATING? https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/7fcc02ad3df2ed9843b945250eef98bff9f7892a5da3711780562d1c81133b64/view -

Hubert Chathi (hubert)'s status on Tuesday, 30-May-2023 10:21:45 EDT Hubert Chathi I have to laugh and shake my head at Smith calling it a "Miracle on the Praries". No, you were leading in the polls pretty much the whole time. You're in a strongly conservative province. I mean, if you're saying that it's a miracle that the majority of Albertans chose to ignore your terribleness, then yes, sure. But people voting the same way the… -
Brian Ó (blacksam)'s status on Sunday, 28-May-2023 13:53:56 EDT Brian Ó I’ve been getting more into the game Gaslands with my son and also with adult friends. It’s a Mad Max-esque tabletop game where you’re expected to create your own game pieces by kitbashing with toy cars. I already have all the crafting, painting and 3d printing supplies I need from my other wargaming hobbies, so the barrier to entry was incredibly low. It’s a lot of li… -

I have my own workaround for just this issue.
I raise my hand to the "Stop/Hold" position.
Get to a point where I can stop and leave myself a note on the next thing to do.
Then let them interrupt me.
I have even done this to my former boss and the owner. It wasn't long before they adopted it for the same reason.
YMMV -

Bob Jonkman (bobjonkman)'s status on Thursday, 13-Apr-2023 23:44:36 EDT Bob Jonkman Oh yes, the movie was terrible. My father-in-law was an avid comic book collector, and had many original Spirit comics. $SPOUSE got me interested too, and we bought hard-cover collections, and when I went to a comic book convention and told an author I thought I saw some Will Eisner influences in his work he thought it was a great compliment! We bought a layout print (pencil sket… -

To call the characters cardboard is to insult a useful packing material".
Ok, now I'm intrigued.
