maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:48:37 EST maiyannah I just don't feel right, in some deep but immaterial way that I can't really explain. I mean 'not right' beyond the usual levels of pain. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:32:08 EST maiyannah @verius The problem with situations where you're already logged in that the session handling in postActiv right now is really shit and drops sessions randomly. and you can actually end up in situations where you're still logged in, but it doesn't recognize the session so it will return a client error 404 (which is an incorrect error code in this instance, but I'm not the one that wrote that code...) -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:30:43 EST maiyannah @verius Specifically, just so you know, the problem there is that the user login information isn't persisted at all for security reasons, so it has no real way to know the credentials are valid unless you're already logged in, or you're logging in _at that time_. It's probably still a good idea to prevent shifting-style attacks to make sure it's the user they say th… -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:26:10 EST maiyannah @lambadalambda @verius That'll work at the time you're sending credentials. It won't work later. But it may be okay for what Verius is doing. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:22:51 EST maiyannah @verius More seriously, that's the one *reliable* way to prove that the user is authenticated and its THAT user whom is logged in. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:22:20 EST maiyannah @verius "but maybe there's a less stressful way for the server."
Almost makes it sound like we were proposing a new API for some sort of reason ;) -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:18:53 EST maiyannah @verius @gameragodzilla To say the least, but I wouldnt call it GOOD storytelling. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:07:38 EST maiyannah @verius @gameragodzilla For a story to be compelling you have to have a conflict that creates a challenge to be overcome. If there isn't something that feels like a legitimate challenge, then why would I care? But moreover, the characters just aren't compelling. They don't react like real humans would. I don't find some recognizable part of them that I identif… -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 05:03:55 EST maiyannah @verius @taknamay Yeah one of the bigger things with corporate project management is "managing the managers". You can get your feet wet with that kind of thing, on your own terms, by contributing to such a project. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 03:34:46 EST maiyannah @archaeme @bob You could probably devise a way to just make the "comments" from the Fediverse. Just make the root of a conversation the blog piece, and fetch all other notices with that conversation id. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Saturday, 24-Dec-2016 03:33:05 EST maiyannah @bob @archaeme A lot of people seem to get very upset by comments from people they have no reason to care about because they're from total strangers. It's somewhat curious behaviour. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 23:55:27 EST maiyannah @gameragodzilla I wonder how many of these obvious cash-ins there will have to be for people in general to start believing me when I say they are.
I mean, you can have a obvious cash-in still be GOOD, it's not mutually exclusive (I mean, that is a LOT of movie sequels to begin with, and not ALL movie sequels are shit). But people just don't want to hear it with Star Wars for whatever reason. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 23:51:17 EST maiyannah @gameragodzilla Maybe they might manage "passably shit" with a few more tries. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 23:49:19 EST maiyannah @gameragodzilla She actually has a character arc, which is more than whatsherface from The Force Awakens got, she just progresses from shit, to kind of shit. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 23:39:43 EST maiyannah @gameragodzilla Disney has shown they really want to write female leads, and they're really, really shit at it. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 23:11:25 EST maiyannah So quickly do people realize the evil they have themselves created when it is turned against themselves. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Friday, 23-Dec-2016 22:56:02 EST maiyannah I've never actually bought the lines people have about not liking a series because of a game from it, or not liking a game because of the series it uses for source material.
If a game is good, it stands on its own merits, and the series source material it uses is just icing on the cake. And a game can be good even if the source material is kind of shit.
