@eibhear In general it's use in games projects becomes a compromise with artists to allow the use of their work. But it's more ideal to have CC-SA or CC0. CC-BY-SA is a harmless addition as well. -

@eibhear (Even RMS has said its okay to have non free art assets and the like if they're easily replaceable: "Images and sounds need to be free if they are essential parts of the software. But if they are just decoration, and easily replaced, then they do not have to be free." ) -

@eibhear I don't mind it in say, games, where you wouldn't want a competitor re-using your game assets in a competing game. But I don't think it belongs attached to the documentation of a project.
That's just my 2c. -

Development on libreboot seems pretty much stalled. I checked out of curiosity today and the only stuff that's been done is shuffling around of documentation stuff. I guess they're more worried about supporting the "pure" distros and the other anti-GNU/FSF screed Leah's pushed, rather than, you know, the actual software. -

I actually hadn't considered the license for documentation of !postActiv I don't think GS/StatusNet had either.
I will make the documentation I write CC-BY-SA, I think. The GNU Free License is a headache of leagalese while the Creative Commons licenses are just fine and much less confusing in my opinion. -

The average pay of a union leader in Canada according to StatsCan, is 95k
And they still get paid even when you're striking and not getting paid.
Not a good recipe. -

Unions in Canada are BAD. They're generally okay in other countries, from what people tell me and I see and here, but here in Canada, especially ones headquartered out of Quebec, good unions are the exception rather than the rule. Every year there's stories of union leaders earning nearly six figures while making people walk the picket lines on no pay. They don… -

And the reason I left that job was that I ran afoul of the local leader and they basically not only tried to make me lose my job they also tried (entirely illegally I might add) to get me blacklisted in the whole industry. If they were less shit about it and more effective, I probably would have taken them to court. As is, I just told them to go fuck themselves and found a non-union competitor to work at. -

I will probably write a blog at some point on that experience, because its worth sharing with those that don't know, but the tl;dr is that the union I had to belong to for one of the retail companies I worked for as an executive for some time was the kind of crooked that'd make the DNC blush. -

It's too bad the FSF jobs are union. I don't mind moving for a good job but after my experience with retail unions I will never ever belong to a union again. -

@richardbaeck @mcscx If you want to follow development of postActiv, there is a group hosted on this instance, !postActiv -

Once I have the rendering code done, so that I can make a unique theme for it, I will set up an official !postActiv instance.
I guess for now, this is the de facto one :) -

So if you're on Mastodon and I don't respond to something, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to ignore you (except one specific case of a person who was shit to me wife). -

I'm about 110% sure a lot of messages from Mastodon aren't getting here. And I notice comparing from here and SPC we both get different sets of messages too. Seems user-specific. Users that don't follow me seem to have better luck than those that actually do for some really bizzare reason, but mind you, correllation doesn't mean causation. -

@richardbaeck @mcscx This one uses a custom version of Qvitter for the UI currently, though Im actually working on rewriting the render code so postActiv can support a proper template-based theme system. -

@verius I can sympathise greatly with those that want to get out of a country that they don't want to live in whatever the circumstances may be, but they surely must realize they have to have something to offer the country they're going to in return. We have enough welfare bums without importing more, thats for sure. -

@verius Or attempts at emigration anyways, not sure about Mexico but frankly Canada doesn't want you unless you can hold a job which it seems a lot of these people cant do. Been "scandal" in the paper about a soaring rejection rate.
