maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 16:12:46 EST maiyannah @nerthos I'd kind of have to, unless I wore really baggy pants, because you couldn't wear the brace over clothing and it wasn't just one of those things that are weird socks, it was an actual genuine brace. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 16:07:48 EST maiyannah @nerthos I used to have the world's weirdest tan lines because of the leg brace I used to wear. Guess I don't have to worry about that any more when the leg's half metal now. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 16:03:06 EST maiyannah @nerthos I tend to get more brown than red. I'm literally the only person in my family who tanned rather than burned. I guess I didn't completely crap out at the genetic lotto. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 15:58:50 EST maiyannah @nerthos @rw Sorry you're only a person of colour or minority if you tow the progressive line. Any other divergent opinion means you surrender your status and become a shitlord guilty of wrongthink. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 15:01:05 EST maiyannah @kzimmermann ggIconography is the hard part, but you can kind of get around that with fonts, I think. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:56:21 EST maiyannah @kzimmermann All I want to have for images in the pA design are avatars, the site logo, and the background image, and those should all be optional in the grand scheme of things. But that's going to be a challenge to pull off I think. -

maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:52:31 EST maiyannah @kzimmermann I definitely want to minimize them. There's a lot of stuff we use images for where it isn't really neccesary in the day and age of CSS3. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:51:56 EST maiyannah Screen readers are HARD. I remember trying to make my MUD pet project work with them a couple years ago and even though MUDs were pure text it was still hard to make work. The big thing is there doesn't really seem to be a standard. Maybe that's improved in the intervening time. I hope so. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:46:51 EST maiyannah @stigatle @kzimmermann @tobi I'm really not sure *how* I'm going to confront accessibility issues with postActiv, but when I get to making my own theme for postActiv, I want to try to make it accessible to things like screen readers for just this reason. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:44:54 EST maiyannah I am growing less and less patient with people whom simply want to contradict people and say "you are wrong" with only strawmen or emotional appeals and no actual debate or counter-arguement. I think I'm just going to start ignoring it. I'm under no obligation to spend time on anyone I don't want to. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:37:49 EST maiyannah @verius Not in the official standards manual there wasn't. But the research that was used to lead to the change in DSM-5 didn't pop up overnight. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:34:13 EST maiyannah @nerthos Differential diagnosis of autism can actually lead to other conditions, or it can end up effectively so mild that we do not consider it a disorder because there is no significant impairment to normal functioning. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:26:59 EST maiyannah @somercet When you create a class of individuals whom receive special treatment compared to other social groups, then what you create at the same time is envy and resentment of that social group. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Thursday, 29-Dec-2016 14:25:00 EST maiyannah @verius Understanding of Autism has increased considerably in the time between the revision of DSM IV and the newer DSM-5 (which also curiously changed from roman numerals to normal numbers, but that's neither here nor there.) As another example, before you were either autistic or not, you either had Autism or you did not, in 5, it is a spectrum disorder, with a recognition of different degrees of severity.
