Whatever update $EMPLOYER installed a few days ago, it took 20 minutes to get logged in and connected to the #VPN today. With the older laptops, that wasn't unusual, but these ones run much faster.

I remember contacting #VPN provider #PIA (Private Internet Access) to cancel my account months ago. Today, I get a message from them telling me that they won't try to charge my (prepaid gift) card next week when the account actually expires.
Yeah, there's a reason why I do things that way.

I think the #VPN issues are largely resolved. Now, do I want to deal with the $EMPLOYER laptop this evening?

Since there are #VPN issues today, I'm reading other things.

On my cellphone ( AT&T #ATT_Wireless ), there's some weird proxy that interacts badly with this instance's security settings. I'm attempting to figure it out, but I might have to use a #VPN every time I'm away from #Wi-Fi until I figure it out.
This never happened with #Sprint.

This is supposed to be $EMPLOYER day, but they're in the third consecutive day of #VPN issues. While it may not affect me (I won't find that out until I attempt to connect), this is happening week after week.

http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21496 It sounds like their claims are a little inflated. Able to bypass deep packet inspection? Not likely, though their techniques may temporarily evade the pattern matching that leads to URL blocks. If $ISP does not block #VPN, that might be a better option than #GreenTunnel. (Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad someone is trying different …

From an actual conversation about #PIA #VPN's sketchy new owners:

> A good VPN is like the divider between urinals. It keeps unsavory people from seeing things they shouldn't. The bad thing is you can't see when a VPN is not doing its job very well.

I am not sure whether it is #Win10 or the #VPN, but one of the two is having a little trouble today. Downloading updates is really dragulent today.
(Dragulent as in "slow and draggy".)

@1iceloops123 Do they block #Tor and #VPN connections?

Today’s conversation: (1) Alternatives to #PIA’s #VPN; (2) Where to find acceptable (for a #SoCal resident) Mexican food in the north central states.

Ad: “Over-55 Singles in [my town’s name]”
Hmm. I don’t go to AARP or arthritis / constipation / geriatric medicine sites, so I think they’re just shooting in a dark room as far as age goes.
Maybe I’ll have to keep the #VPN engaged, even from $HOME, to deflect the other part.

LOL. I doubt I'll use it now. I created an account on a second-tier webmail service for a particular need. Immediately after creation, they blocked me from using it. I asked why and the reply said something about "Abuse Dept" ... it took me a few days to figure it out: I was using #hotel_Wi-Fi, and of course, #VPN. They decided that meant I had ill intentions. Anyway, I wished …

It is mostly okay using the #Android tablet on my hotspot (no #VPN) when I’m out of high speed data. Everything works, just slowly. The #iOS tablet is on the supposedly faster #hotel_Wi-Fi (with VPN) and some things work intermittently, if at all. Before you ask, yes, I did try putting the iPad on the hotspot without the VPN. No improvement.
