@deavmi I use a CGI plugin for #lighttpd but yes, #apache does have #mod_cgi if you're interested in !selfhost ing.
-
@deavmi but you can also port forward if you want to just !selfhost a website. I did that for kzimmermann.crabdance.com

@nstr mostly just looking around... ever since my !selfhost quest I'm looking for ways to immerse myself in distributed networks.

Sounds like @Doctorow is a fan of !SelfHosting: Imagine a location service that sold itself on the fact that your personal information was securely contained in its environs, used by you and you alone. You could have devices on your person that used their sensors to know things about you – when you last ate, what your dining preferences are, what your blood-sugar is, and so on, b…

Does anyone have any experience with how MediaGoblin is? http://www.mediagoblin.org/ !selfhost

Hmm, so I was checking through some GS scripts, and noticed clean_profiles.php. I ran it out of curiosity, and it removed 7 profiles that I'm pretty sure didn't post anything to my instance, and I ran it again after about 10 minutes and it removed another profile.
What does the script actually check for, and should I be concerned about those accounts that removed? !selfhost

Is there a way to short-call a username in a GS site notice? If I use "a href = "espionage724">espionage724</a> for example, it tries to put me at "panel/espionage724" which doesn't exist. Trying to figure out how to put the most information possible in a 255 space is kind of difficult :p Ideally, I would just want a link to my profile on my GS instance, and a link to a forum post…

hehe, I'm trying to imagine her setting up her linux box out in the garage, squatted down on a crate with a beer on the ground and a keyboard on her lap. !selfhost freak!

Hmm, it still fails to remote join unfortunately.
Not sure why there would be 4 instances. From what I can recall, I only joined !selfhost once from my instance.
-
There are four instances of @espionage724 https://www.realmofespionage.com/espionage724 in the 'profile' table; I've deleted the entry for the one profile in the 'group_member' table. Try subscribing to !selfhost again... #ReferentialIntegrity? #NeverHeardOfIt

Campaigning, but not too busy to fix a !gnusocial problem. But I see @espionage724 right at the top of the !selfhost subscription list, so I'm not sure anything is broken here... http://sn.jonkman.ca/group/selfhost/members
