@taknamay @gomerx Haha yeah, it's hard to anticipate server settings for heavier load. So #quitter.is for example has gone down a couple of times before I've looked at logs and followed the recommendations of for example PHP-FPM messages. :)
-
@grace Also your #quitter.is account works as an !XMPP account ;)
(there's no interaction, just the same credentials)
-
I've made the #quitter.is and #quitter.es instances render non !qvitter by default now, to allow for the "classic" !GNUsocial site to be indexed and crawled with all the magic markup and stuff that is available in that layout.
-
@uddaboktips Psst, bytte #quitter.is just layout för dig? (i så fall kan du växla tillbaka genom "New Quitter.is"-länken högst upp i mitten).
-
@einebiene Did #quitter.is just turn into the "classic view" for you (until you clicked "New Quitter.is"?)?
Assuming you were using the fancy qvitter interface of course.
-
Since I'm unable to sit down for a while and check, has the spam storm reached #quitter.is or #quitter.es yet? I.e. should I get to a computer to pause registrations? .)

Pretty good distribution (might be a bit skewed due to a dirty dataset) of first characters in the SHA256 sums of files uploaded to #quitter.is. Good randomization! https://social.umeahackerspace.se/attachment/51026
-
Oh sorry, right. Well, use #quitter.es or #quitter.is - they're just one step behind this node in the cycle of code breakage ;)
-
@roland @hikerus Yeah and it's pretty neat to do it with 'git pull'. This is what I do to update !gnusocial on #quitter.es and #quitter.is (including !Qvitter):
cd ~/htdocs && bash scripts/stopdaemons.sh && git pull && php scripts/upgrade.php && bash scripts/startdaemons.sh && cd local/plugins/Qvitter/ && git pull
(symlinked ~/htdocs to the site's root directory)

@denommus Mm'kay. Yeah I'm just used to unpacking/cloning and then running stuff as non-priviliged users because that's what I was raised up to do ;) One thing you could do, which I do on #quitter.is and #quitter.es for example, is to have different data paths in config.php, like: $config['avatar']['dir'] = INSTALLDIR . '/../data/avatar/'; $config['attachments']['dir']…

@mv Remember you can ping me if #quitter.is doesn't work for some reason!

Something seems to be going on with the DNS for #quitter.is - hang in there, we'll fix it today sometime I hope. .) cc: @knuthollund !gnusocial
-
^- #quitter.is and #quitter.es are now immune to this, I recommend other !gnusocial nodes with !qvitter to update as well.
-
@abjectio Hm, could you set #quitter.is nameservers to the same as for #quitter.es? That is, ns1.hethane.se ns2.hethane.se and ns3.hethane.se (actually, ns3 isn't on quitter.es, but you could add it there too if you want).
I need to update the IP and it's easiest if I can do that on my own nameservers :]
-
Psst, #quitter.is users, you should be able to log in on the #XMPP network using your site credentials (like user@quitter.is with the same password)!

@mikael @knuthollund aye, the machine that has #quitter.is was upgraded wheezy -> jessie. Only thing I had to do apart from dist-upgrade was to install the virtual kernel image/header packages, as it otherwise was stuck on linux-image-3.2 :D

Thank you to whoever donated ~0.02 #BTC to #quitter.is on 2015-05-27! It really helps keep the motivation up to run public nodes. :)
