By the way, @tobias, I think your #Textile plugin for #StatusNet was the basis for @chimo's #Markdown plugin for #GNUsocial.

@geniusmusing Hmm. I don't like #Markdown, but I might try it out and see if I can patch it to accept #Textile.

@geniusmusing #Markdown makes it harder to use for most people (which is why I left #Textile, which is what I really like, disabled). I like the way #Libertree does it, where the post editor inserts the proper markdown syntax, but otherwise, I would want a way for each user to switch md on (and have it off by default).

@moonman 1. That Diaspora relative URL link thing is already fixed: http://status.hackerposse.com/url/10390 2. I personally think these things shouldn't be messed since the notice is already rendered as the original user intended it to. If you want to mark up stuff differently, then it should be fixed in the posting client. Default !GNUsocial assumes bare text. (One wa…

I’ve seen hints and suggestions somewhere that there is a #Markdown plugin for !GNUsocial. I’m using #Textile at the moment, but I’d *far* rather use Markdown. Any pointers, please?

@erkan @nds The (former) developer of a #Tent client (and former Tent !selfhost er) was recently grumbling about the pace of development (both the spec and their implementation). But in the past few days, some improvements made to Tent-flavored #Markdown (as deployed to their #Cupcake instance).

@liw: agreed, #pandoc is a very nice n:m markup converter. I just haven't used it recently, since I mostly do #markdown → html nowadays

@jgbarah: IME, #markdown is perfect for text-like documentaiton. It breaks down when you need to mix markups (e.g. highlighted code)
