@kat Did you ask what their salary was, now that they were working for #GitHub?
-
@if It is, but I would recommend getting !qvitter from the (official) non #GitHub repository! https://git.gnu.io/h2p/Qvitter
-
@chimo Every repo that #GitHub loses is a win for the decentralised web. Now git over here, you!

Commentary on !Python and #Github: http://draketo.de/py2guile/free#python-github #git

@dragnucs #GitHub advertisement? What kind of crap is that? Bah. Everyone should just stop using that piece of shit disservice.
-
@knuthollund I think that's an overall negative move for !python, especially the reason they chose #Github: most potential contributors are already familiar with it. If that's the motivation, why not render patches and edits as text and m…

Bah, supporting the closed source #GitHub's exclusive events? I think not! :P
-
@sanpi @vinzv ...oh the irony of that being on #github - the _least_ self-hostable code repository used by #FLOSS developers.
-
Thanks for the offer, but I think what we're lacking is the software ;)
Since everyone are using #GitHub nowadays, there don't seem to survive any Good(tm) free (libre) source repository/issue tracker-combos.
-
@knuthollund Yeah, and at least they're not using #GitHub! ;) (they've got a selfhosted #GitLab)
-
@aqeel Oh wait you meant the #GitHub statement. Yeah, that "the entire history is available" is apparently a "con" according to those secrecy lovers even though just about everyone who uses their servers are encouraged to publish projects with forkable licenses. But obviously not because it's a good and obvious thing - only because they want to hog all the FLOSS developers.
-
https://gitorious.org/ - even licensed AGPL and hosting several large projects already :)
Since git is decentralized, the least people can do is to start a mirror repository on another server. In !gnusocial's case @mattl has set up a mirror on #github but our main repo (where merge requests are accepted) is on #Gitorious.
-
I don't like #GitHub. And now that I read about their take on Git 2.3 I notice interesting comments: "Your server will contain a .git directory containing the entire history of your project. You probably want to make extra sure that it cannot be served to users!". Bah! And their site encourages people to share code? Given the #AGPL license of !gnusocial for example we…
