That's a very interesting thread. Seems the main objection to #Iron is no available source code, followed by dubious modifications. Sadly, I've made no effort to verify SRWare's claims. That may be hard to do without source code. !fs

A restriction of "non-commercial" would also make it non- !FreeSoftware and non- !Libre. Better to have a different designation like NCOS (Non-Commercial Open Source). Don't know what license you'd use for that, though: http://opensource.org/licenses/category

@bobjonkman Since the contract was illegal, the customer never got the right to the parts the developer wrote, I think, but he did get the rights to the GPL’led parts - so no passing on of the proprietary parts. I guess that the customer can then sue the developer for misleading or so, and part of the settlement could be that the proprietary code gets licensed under GPL, too - after …
