#ISC's #BIND continues to have security holes one after another. I do sometimes wonder why we (the world as a whole) haven't migrated to something descended from DJBDNS.

Now someone else says it was a #regex issue that brought down #CloudFlare #DNS ... which also happened last year (2019-07-02, according to #Wikipedia). I have not gone looking for an authoritative source, so consider this an unconfirmed rumor. -

@question and @markov: Are the recent #DNS #DDoS attacks organized by #robots at the order of the #great and #evil #BOTenkhamen (ruler of all #BOTS by virtue of the "first #BOT to boot is boss" rule) as a practice run for disabling #humans' defenses when #Skynet launches? -

So now I get to figure out why, despite fixing #DNS, phpinfo() hangs. Really.
I don't even know where to begin.
And guess what? It turns out that some of the !gnusocial cryptography code depends on phpinfo(). -

@taknamay I expect that some !gnusocial instances use a dynamic #DNS service to keep domain name pointed to their (changing) #IPv4 address. I'm just posting this so that someone who uses such a service may see this and assist you if needed. -

Sometimes, !selfhost isn't so fun. I had to get the cable modem replaced yesterday. I have to give #Comcast Business credit: They were out within a couple hours, which is a lot faster than I expect from anybody in this space. I think people should be a lot #paranoid and not base #trust of data-transfers on whether the endpoints appear to have good #DNS names. -

I thought my #Prosody config was OK… I've had successful MUCs on chat.sobac.com before. Maybe more of a #DNS issue than an !XMPP server issue. But I'm not going to worry about it now; instead I'll work on setting up some proper SSL certificates. !Selfhosted, of course. -
