I have not gone looking for an authoritative source, so consider this an unconfirmed rumor. -

benfell (benfell)'s status on Wednesday, 14-Sep-2016 03:55:26 EDT benfell So now I get to figure out why, despite fixing #DNS, phpinfo() hangs. Really.
I don't even know where to begin.
And guess what? It turns out that some of the !gnusocial cryptography code depends on phpinfo(). -

Tried setting up a zone on NameCheap free DNS service - but I'm not happy with how that went and it may actually be wrong (no way to set, edit or even see the SOA record) - let's see what we have #tomorrow. lnxw48 (Linux Walt) (lnxw48)'s status on Saturday, 20-Feb-2016 07:50:11 EST lnxw48 (Linux Walt) @taknamay I expect that some !gnusocial instances use a dynamic #DNS service to keep domain name pointed to their (changing) #IPv4 address. I'm just posting this so that someone who uses such a service may see this and assist you if needed. -

benfell (benfell)'s status on Monday, 05-Oct-2015 18:11:40 EDT benfell Sometimes, !selfhost isn't so fun. I had to get the cable modem replaced yesterday. I have to give #Comcast Business credit: They were out within a couple hours, which is a lot faster than I expect from anybody in this space. Unfortunately, it turns out that a couple of my DNS secondaries had broken. Unfortunately, it turns out that these cable modems ship with some default sett… -

Maybe more of a #DNS issue than an !XMPP server issue. But I'm not going to worry about it now; instead I'll work on setting up some proper SSL certificates. !Selfhosted, of course. -
