Whenever JD sends one of those “$NAME has a birthday today” messages, I think about finally closing the account. Between nearly all my contacts having abandoned #Diaspora years ago and tons of #newsbots posting article links in any #hashtag I have subscribed to, the content is mostly undesirable. -

@dude Hmm. This complicates the plan to add a #Pleroma instance for !FNetworks before we upgrade to !gnusocial 2.0. I'm not really interested in hosting incompatible services (one reason why planned #Diaspora and #Pump.io instances were abandoned). -

@lakwnikos afaik, there isn't connectivity among them, but what I do is to connect both to Friendica, but you can't directly post from !GNUSocial to #Diaspora (and vice versa) -

#Diaspora and !Nextcloud are very different - one is for communicating with others or sending them announcements, the other is for file and media storage, and sharing them with others. Is there a "social media" type of function on Nextcloud, or filesharing in Diaspora? -

@silverwizard Actually, both the #Mastodon software and !GNUsocial software use the #OStatus protocol, as do #Diaspora, #Friendica, #Hubzilla and others, which we on !GNUsocial call the !Fediverse (apparently folks on Friendica have another name for that federated network) -

@maiyannah @moonman @lnxw48 no need, it will "defeat" itself later on (by being sold on low price). As long as #federation remains compatible between all social-network software ( !gnusocial !diaspora #friendica and all the others) we can be a good alternative to those bloated #corporate islands. that is what makes the !fediverse good: #open-source and #federated. :-)
