I should note that both #sonOne ( age 42 ) and #sonTwo ( age 32 ) obtained jobs with vacation time within the last 2-3 years, but before that, neither of them had ever had it either. ( #Daddy_A still has not had a job with vacation, but he was stuck in retail until a back injury took him out of the workforce for five years. ) -

@sean I think the key words are "non-union job" ... other than Silly Valley, I'm not aware of most non-union jobs granting vacation time. I've never had a job in my life where vacation time was available. Some ARE okay with using sick time, because they realize that when a sick employee comes to work, not only is their productivity reduced, but they spread the infection to other employees. -

@guizzy This is your work phone, right? I think boring updates is an important plus there. If you're in an organization with thousands of employees and iPhone 11 comes out, all the employees with 6/7/8/9 start dropping their phones in the toilet, so they can get a replacement. -

@thatbrickster I'm not a UK citizen or resident, so your national politics are not intuitive at all, but I would guess that it is all about (1) Brexit [left wants to revote until their desired result happens; didn't something like this happen in Ireland a few years back?] and (2) taxes to fund government services [everyone around the world is horrified about cuts to your nation… -
