Why would I suddenly wonder how one would get from KAAA (Logan County Airport, Lincoln, IL) to KIX (Osaka Airport, Osaka, JP)? You don't, at least not directly. -

It is hard to sleep on a plane. The noise and motions keep you just across the border from rest, no matter what you do. -

Recently (not today, but close enough), I've been reading about #Lua and fiddling with "tables" which are dictionaries (other languages may use the terms "dict", "dictionary", "hash", "associative array" for similar concepts). -

Today's plans got sidetracked because I spent most of today reading up on #xbase and looking at these old and decrepit-looking sites to examine the state of xbase dev tools. (A zillion years ago, I took a couple of classes using #dBASE III and dBASE IV for #MSDOS. I barely remember them, but I might enjoy playing around with an xbase to see if I can jar loose some recollection of what this stuff can do.) -

I usually do this once or twice per year. I’m looking for #podcasts to subscribe to. I’ll add 2-3, but I find it really hard to listen to blah-blah for more than 20-30 minutes at a time. So after a while, I’ll stop listening because episodes are too long. Then, a few months later, I’ll see this huge queue and declare “podcast bankruptcy”. The only one that I keep … -

@musicman That’s awfully specific. There might be podcasts focused on webservers ( #Apache #httpd, #Lighttpd, #Nginx, #Cherokee, #OpenBSD httpd, etc ) and plugins / extensions ... maybe with some coverage of Web APIs and such. Or there might be some that cover everything the Apache org produces.
I’m not confident that you will find any #podcasts that cover only the intersection. -

@dwaltiz @moonman I don't see that ending well. Even brand new computers with #Win10 minimum requirements are a mistake.
I bought one in PR because I needed a Windows machine for tax-filing purposes. I went to run Windows Updates and right out of the box it said I need to plug in extra storage before it can install updates. 32Gig eMMC was already filled. -

That's true. It's like cloud stuff. As a federal employee, they were always paranoid about cloud, so I got no at-work exposure. So now, despite not having any real need for it, I'm going to build something for Amazon-compatible hosting and maybe something for Google cloud as well, just so I can add it to my resume. (Surprisingly, one of the agency's recently contracted systems… -

There isn't real DOS, but there's still CMD (a more capable 32/64 bit version of DOS's command.com) for now. Now that I've done a very small amount of PowerShell, it is so much better than CMD / DOS command.com that I can see even CMD dying out soon. -
