Okay, this seems to be an M4.5 event, 23 km NNE of Barstow, CA. No damage here, but someone's alarm went off down the street and I can hear the neighbors outside (a rare thing, so surely quake related). -

I remember when I moved 75 miles from the old neighborhood to this area. My best friend and his sister (an old gf) and I promised to stay in touch. But the old place was on a street where no one had telephones, and it was many years before I had one myself. Which meant that “keep in touch” was postcards and occasionally visiting, plus one Dodgers game per year.
It worked for about a decade. -

@awg Is it normies that ruin everything? I thought it was people getting excited about the inflow of new users and not requiring them to follow the existing protocols and standards. I mean, that's what happened in the AOL days. It's also what happened when Twitter became popular. I can't say about Facebook, because it was already pretty widespread when I had my account. -

@guizzy An important point which was embedded in what you said is this: all or almost all of the relationship group members have to prioritize the relationship and the activities meant to strengthen and prolong it.
If one party says "I'm going to do what it takes to stay connected with X" and X never reciprocates, they will eventually no longer be connected with X despite their efforts. -

#Daddy_A feels rejected because he’s not getting any job offers. But he’s been off work five years due to a back injury (and been the primary caregiver for three kids), so it is not unexpected. Trying to persuade him to start some sort of job-training program, so that he’ll have a better shot. -

@triodug Yeah. Used to live near a big open field. In Winter, mice would try to move indoors. I felt bad, but just catching them and taking them back into the field would just result in their returning (or one of their friends ... I think there were just too many for the amount of food; the coyotes kept the outdoor cat population too low). -

@1iceloops123 Yes, Outlook allows folders. You'd want to use a rule to do the sorting, but even with folders and autosorting, you're basically drowning in an old septic tank. .
