I think the second one is preferrable. Assuming that the college’s tech staff actually gets control over the server, of course. But it is probably not a good idea to let 3PV have control anyway, so 3PV.com is not an option one should expect.

@geniusmusing I need to read more about #XCP / #XCP-ng ... I know that some VPS hosters used #Xen for a while (though it seems many of those switched to #KVM-Qemu), but I have never used Xen nor this “community” version on hardware I could touch. -
