I was just thinking about those sites where they send a confirmation code by SMS and you cannot log in without it. Yesterday, Mark sent me a couple of messages by SMS that took around 12 hours to travel 100 miles. Maybe SMS isn't really appropriate for a "second factor". -

@lxoliva I can't imagine it is a system clock issue if the Diaspora and GS instances are running on the same system. If there are others seeing the same issue with FSF's GS instance, maybe their admins should seek troubleshooting assistance in #social on Freenode. -

http://status.hackerposse.com/url/21111 > In the U.S., there have been 81,507 deaths as of May 12.3 For a fatality rate of 0.1 percent, the same as the seasonal flu, we’d have to find out that 81.5 million Americans, or nearly a quarter of the U.S. population, had already had COVID-19. No time or energy for it now, but I *really* need to write a long blog post about net neutrality, its historical antecedents (common carrier, last mile, natural monopoly), and why "free market" types should be its strongest supporters.
Spoiler: It isn't a free market if one party has the power to force or coerce its way on the other. -

Welcome Back Kotter was not my favorite show (but one of my brothers liked it, so in a one TV household, I saw a few episodes). I don’t recall (maybe I was never aware of it) the cast turmoil that Wikipedia mentions. -

Serializing #Lua tables: https://www.lua.org/pil/12.1.1.html
This feels weird to me. Maybe because Lua is generally embedded inside of a game, where the script need not concern itself about saving its data to a file. -

@geniusmusing I’m glad they are shifting back, but leaving Linux for Windows did incalculable damage to the efforts of those of us who advocate within government agencies to give FLOSS a fair trial. I sincerely doubt this time will help. -
