Cool! Thanks ♻ @vinzv I cleaned up the servers !statusnet wiki page. Feel free to add missing servers: http://2tu.us/5o6h !feds

Awww. None in Asia yet …
-
I like to think that I would have told them to mind their own damn business and to stay the hell out of mine. I probably wouldn’t have but I like to think that I would have.
-
Oh boy that went to the wrong place, sorry about that @redbaptist
-
No problem. Wrong dent probably?
-
nah, I typed in the wrong number when I replied
-
@redbaptist if you build it, they will come.
-
If I remember correctly there was one created for the !Philippines a few years ago, but it was just swamped with spam, am I right @jcsesecuneta ?
-
Yep, a couple actually. When the others was forgotten by their admins, a couple of new ones showed up. But eventually forgotten still. What was unfortunate was some of them got support from news networks before they jumped to Twitter.
-
So now, instead of these networks embracing StatusNet, etc. they ended up embracing Twitter because the hosts they tried before Twitter eventually went down. The question will always be: how reliable is the service? How long will it stay? What’s the financial status of its admin(s)?
-
yeah too bad. Well, there will be one springing up soon.
-
Yup. They might as well pack up their sites and just go straight to FB, Twitter, Tumblr, et al. /bad marketing for them IMO. Imagine if their SNs were still up, that would mean more jobs in the FS industry right?
-
Yeah. I don’t know what’s with everybody going to FB. But I wasn’t surprised at all, I expected as much years ago. They’ll go back to their websites sooner or later, they don’t have a choice. Most of them are bandwagon jumpers, not early adopters.
-
yup reminds me of the time when “I’ll friend you in Friendster” was the IN thing. XD
-
Yep. The good ol’ days. And now look at FB, slowly going down. Competition really is good. Choice is even better. We just need to be patient. (And we need a solid, stable, reliable #Philippines SN host/admin so we can restart the efforts :-p )
-
Nice! Wanna try it again? :-D
-
It’s on my plate, hehe. My problem right now is funding and management time. There are at least 2 plans I currently have for attempting to push SN again locally. Another blocker is @parlementum‘s incorporation method, I haven’t studied it much but I’m more inclined to do it that way (then another springs up – who are willing to sign the Articles of Incorporation and stay all the way?)

@jcsesecuneta @redbaptist on the plus side the spam fighting tools are better in 1.1.0alpha.
