Non-federating group-aliases turn out to be remarkably useful.

.@erkanyilmaz @rozzin May i ask why ? 8-)

It hit me only recently that, in the phrase "The only dumb question is the one not asked", the word "dumb" means `silent' or `voiceless'.

Non-federating group-aliases let everyone on every site have whatever aliases they want/need without needing the central group admins to manage them all. Like, I want to address the "fedgroupies"—I just do it; nobody needs to worry about all sorts of global implications. If that federated, *everyone* would need to worry about the global implications.
