@musicman LOL. Maybe one of those dots is incomplete, soyour hostname only has 1.999999999999999 dots.

I think it was finding "localhost" as the hostname. "hostname -f" was failing (for reasons I do not at all understand) but I fiddled a bit and eventually got "hostname -f" to report localhost. Once I got that, I just changed the order in /etc/hosts.
and why the hell can't #uyuni just use the IP address????????

I mean, I get that in a production environment you will want to use DNS and then you can do failover and such, but I think it's silly to enforce that.
