   Another reason homeownership is sliding for those who don't already own real estate: the price is rising at many times the inflation rate. One guy I worked with in #Sacramento told me he lives in a major city near the agency's regional office, and that renting apartments (not buying / becoming an owner, renting!) in that relatively high crime area costs around $4,000 per month.…

     There was a comment yesterday that "people are stupid" was part of why the real estate market and economy imploded in 2007, but the bankers' ads saying "prices may never be this low again" legitimately pushed people to accept whatever terms banks offered in order to buy a home NOW, before prices and interest rates rose and they were permanently excluded from home ownership.
