     As an example, there are plenty of cases of self-defense where it has been ruled that the person was entirely legally-justified in their use of force to defend themselves, but still civilly liable for the property damage caused by discharging a firearm.

     @verius No civil case can be used to establish guilt.  It is literally how the legal system works.  Guilt is criminal.  And nothing else.
