we went to a Vietnamese shopping center in DC and I expected people to look like Wendy's dad who is Vietnamese, but instead *everyone* looked like Wendy's mom, who was half Chinese. -

of course the Chinese and the Vietnamese have regional ethnic issues, but I don't understand that at all since most of the Vietnamese people at the Vietnamese shopping center we went to in DC were ethnically Chinese. -

I have always found it amusing that the buy local people have xenophobes as bedfellows. I remember getting odd looks from a shoe sales person when Wendy (who is 1/4 Chinese) and I were making disparaging comments about stuff made China. -
