   paying for followers would seem to be more like paying to be on a list. There is a level of deception in both. I suppose if people are deceived by Klout then there is some similarity, but I don't know that anyone is deceived about what Klout is doing.

   I don't understand how algorithm = paying to be on list. You are going to have to connect the dots for me. In one you are simply existing in (a limited) digital space (Klout) and in another you are taking affirmative action.

   I only care about it in as much as it is one measure of many to show how well Music Manumit is doing. The fact that status.net and diaspora are not included in some measure is just one of its flaws.

   I'm pretty sure EFF and Lessig are not paying for high Klout scores. Now, it Klout is some sort of scheme divised by facebook/twitter/google to "force" people to post more, then I'd believe that.
