That's annoying. You could try to telnet to port 25 on the machine and send mail manually by issuing SMTP commands. That's always fun. -

I look in /var/log/maillog . That's on Red Hat/CentOS/Oracle. I believe Postfix just logs the one place. -

This one is a bit fiddly. Got it to connect to the Mac after 5 or 6 tries and a reboot. Haven't gotten it to work on Linux yet. -

Yes. I found gmtp which is an MTP client. The option to connect the phone in MTP mode doesn't seem to work, though. I'll investigate further -

I believe it's an MTP/PTP device. I helped a friend get her Samsung set up on a Mac, but haven't dealt with it on Linux yet. -
