@se7en @dolus @moshpirit @denommus @novadeviator Plus, I added a feature I've been wanting for a long time that the !gnusocial developers don't consider a priority.
Unfortunately, the merge request has been sitting there for a nearly a month so I'm the only one who gets the feature. http://ur1.ca/orcrf

@moshpirit @dolus @se7en @novadeviator if you dislike the rules of a given space, !gnusocial gives you the freedom to have your own space
-
@se7en @novadeviator why?? I think that quitter.se works fine.

@koz Err. All !GNUsocial feeds _are_ RSS and Atom _by design_. ;)
Just check your RSS toolbar indicator (that Mozilla started hiding in the customize menu and also made gray instead of orange).

@nydel I usually just make sure to guide them (usually in physical space) to some interesting stuff to subscribe to, depending on their interest. Some areas aren't covered yet which makes some peoples' interests harder to fulfill, but can also be encouraged to "be the first" to contribute cerrain aspects of the network. Community building is the best effort to provide…

this unofficial user's guide to !gnusocial - https://karp.id.au/social/user/ - that i found on @nbd 's instance - is very clean, brief & thorough.

@echosa i know @gunvolt did a log entry that explains !gnusocial to - i don't know, "outsiders" or "twits" or something? those are horrible attempts but i feel like "types of people who don't know about gnusocial by now" is a concept worthy of some sort of shorthand - but i'm still having a hard time getting the non-fsf/gnu people i know to consider quitter ( #consTwitterThis ?) and …

After changing my avatar, I got an 500 error while getting friends_timeline.json. What would I need to do to tell !gnusocial to use a local mail setup? As in, using mail(1).

@einebiene No, the RSS feed reader is built-in! :)
I usually just go to the URL of the feed, then select "subscribe" and select to add it to the bookmark field, then it's readily available. Try this for my !GNUsocial profile feed for example: https://social.umeahackerspace.se/api/statuses/user_timeline/mmn.atom - so if you get the RSS feed for a podcast you can do the same procedure (and probably some other way too).

i try not to be negative or confrontational. but i kind of want to tell @mashable a few things: 1) i was a fan of your content before !gnusocial & the rise of the !fediverse & i still appreciate most of what y'all make & do. 2) i have blocked your notices here because i already know your url and prefer to visit when i damn well feel like it. 3) i'm involved heavily in a lot of gnu, f…
