@kyle @mmn I use #XMPP posting. If I shut my client, it depends on your XMPP server's setting for store messages while away. I've gotten up to 600 notices when I returned.

If I take my IM application offline, i.e. to reboot my computer for a kernel upgrade or for any other reason, do I need to turn on !xmpp notifications again once I connect back to my !gnusocial account, or is the setting supposed to be persistent?

It seems that the d command to send direct messages on !gnusocial via !XMPP isn't working. My direct messages are showing up as notices. #fail

@jrm I doubt it. You can enter certain terms into any major search site and find posts on various SN / GS servers.

Just curious if !gnusocial uses some sort of means to keep search bots away.

#UX breaks as often on bleeding-edge #SoMe like #GNUsocial as on #Twitter, bc #Twitter breaks things DELIBERATELY. It's an ad platform.

!umehack primarily uses #IRC for communication. External communication (non-members) is via e-mail. We don't however have a mailing list; we used to, but it was never used. I just made #Qvitter the default interface, you can always disable it of course. I did that because a lot of people came on !gnusocial because of this twitter-like theme and I think that if it helps to bring more people on GNU social we should show them that we have this twitter-theme. What do you think ?
