From sciam https://twitter.com/sciam on Twitter: Muon experiment physicist David Hertzog of the University of Washington sits down with @ClaraMoskowitz to explain what today's exciting physics news really means. https://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode/big-physics-news-the-muon-g-2-experiment-explained/

I really enjoyed the twin seminars today on both improved theoretical understanding of the Muon g-2, and the improved experimental understanding of g-2. I look forward to all the papers on the experimental results, but the >4 sigma disagreement between the two cannot be ignored.

The Zoom webinar for muon g-2 is saturated at 5000 participants. Go to the live stream to watch the presentation of experimental results (going on now!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81PfYnpuOPA

Had an awesome seni-normal moment today. Masked and socially distanced, one of our #PHYS1303 students and I used a force meter to measure the coefficient of static friction between a horseshoe and silicone. I said semi-normal. I was clear. https://twitter.com/drsekula/status/1379595353708724227/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/71618

#NCAA kicks basketball team out of their #hotel after loss
#basketball #OR
I don't know what they were thinking. On the scale at which the NCAA tournament operates, one night's hotel stay is nothing. (Plus, this was likely long after check-out time, so they I'm sure they paid for that night anyway.)

Today was the "bowling ball pendulum demo" in #PHYS1303. I really, really miss doing this in front of a very anxious class full of students. Instead, I had to show it using this video.
