I'm amazed at how far laundromat technology has advanced in my lifetime. It's like going from the Flintstones to the Jetsons. https://nu.federati.net/attachment/275474

The attendant just changed to Ellen's talk show, so $CHILD won't have another chance to dance along.
I think I'll be finished with laundry before it is time for Oompa-loompas anyway.
-
He missed a good time to dance. The 1970s Willy Wonka movie is on and Charlie and one of his grandfathers just sang and danced after they found out he won a trip to the chocolate factory.

This little kid is dancing while his mom keeps telling him and his sister to stand next to the laundry cart. Trying not to laugh.

I bought my mom a TV / Blu-Ray & DVD player. The mounting hardware that I bought for her monitors a year or two back should fit, but she doesn't know where she put it.I've been looking for it for a few days.

Today is #coin_laundry day. A bunch of people without masks ... this place isn't crowded, but it is busy.

I have been in isolation since March. I’ve been doing generally well alone, reading, writing, creating, and as always, studying.
Amongst my studies, I have been looking at what lies ahead for our cultural future and the economy. Of late, I’ve been looking at tribes, of “social pods”. After finding this article this morning, I have another word for it. “Homesquading”

Sure enough, #TropStorm #Wilbur and Subtropical Storm #Alpha formed since some time last evening. We exhausted the 2020 Atlantic tropical cyclone names and have reverted to Greek letters. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Google Translate had trouble with this page. You may have to look for cognates between Dutch and English.
Incidentally, why is the language called "Dutch" and the nation called "The Netherlands", but the nationality is again called Dutch? Would @bobjonkman know the answer?
-
In the Netherlands (which the Dutch call "Nederland") the language is called "Nederlands", so that makes sense. Perhaps English speakers couldn't differentiate between "Nederlands" and "Deutsch", which corrupted to "Dutch".
And why do we call the country "Germany" and the inhabitants "Germans" when they call their country "Deutschland" and themselves "die Deutsche"?

I was talking with #sonTwo and mentioned not knowing where the right shoulder pain came from. He didn’t miss a beat:
“Dad, it’s just because you’re old. Get used to it.”

Every now and then, I wish to go back in time and behead the person who decided that printers and computers belonged together before the origination of said idea.

"... in an environment where their brain is constantly intellectually stimulated" I mostly had this during college and university, but it has always been rare in the workplace. I used to take on more challenging tasks and try to script them (using #KiXtart, or occasionally #VBScript or #PowerShell), but $EMPLOYER is now afraid that we'll damage the network with scripts, so I d…

Actually, I took extra math classes because I didn't want my brain to shrivel during an easier quarter.

Chica was a good dog. She was 15 or 16, and the last dog that any of my siblings had. This was my youngest sister’s dog. I remember when they moved to a tiny apartment and brought Chica to live with us and our (at the time) dogs and cats. At the time, they hadn’t had any cats, so we were concerned that Chica would chase / attack the cats. After a little while, she made it c…
