!Debian invents software that is broken by design! http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=702225
-
@vinc17 "invents"? It's not even their software. Please, don't spread FUD.
-
Xalan is an Apache Software Foundation program. Debian devs didn't create it, they only packaged the program.
-
For comparison, that's like blaming Microsoft for every unstable program on Windows Store or Valve for every bad game on Steam.
-
The problem seems to be !Debian specific.
-
And that's also !Debian developers who decided that this wasn't a bug, while obviously it doesn't work.
-
@vinc17, it's not clear from your report whether you have the DTD installed locally; Bill seems to think that you don't.
-
@vinc17 You're wrong about xsltproc. It reports: warning: failed to load external entity "http://ur1.ca/8x27"
-
The DTD is installed locally (not clear from my bug report, but you can deduce it from the fact that xsltproc is fine).
-
@vinc17 You're making an assumption there. From your report, you make it sound like xsltproc fetches from the network fine. #Badbugreporting
-
@vinc17: what's good in your dents is that they are always #constructive and full of hope in a brighter technical future
-
@vinc17, do you have the DTD installed "in your system directory" (whatever that means), or just in the catalog? Apparently those are different things?
-
Just the catalog. But what is the system directory? Where is the documentation? A package without documentation is useless!
-
@vinc17, I have no idea--please file these clarifications in the bug-report, not just in discussion in some random place on the Internet? :)
-
@rozzin Because of these discussions, some clarifications have already been made.
