Any tips for installing Linux on an SSD? !debian #linux
-
@gdk disable journaling, no swap
-
@amrhelmy2004 I think disabling journaling is bad advice, unless of course you don't care about data-loss. No swap is fine for >=8Gb RAM
-
@gdk Don't use disk-based swap (take a look at zram). Attempt to sector-align partitions (this is a PITA) w/ GPT. Etc
-
@gdk Modern SSDs will last 5+ years, at which point they will be worthless. Don't disable journaling, it's paranoia about the wrong thing
-
First of all, use noatime (not only for SSD). Consider discard for ext4. And I aligned partition to sectors.
-
@rozie did you get GRUB to handle sector-aligned partitions?
-
@rysiek I guess there is no difference for grub with alligned partii on.
