Food For Thought ♻ @Falkvinge New article: A better definition of "non-commercial" - http://ur1.ca/aergq !CC !copyright !copyleft #NC
-
what would you do if bill gates himself would use your works? If someone owns 2 billion $, he’s still a natural person.
-
Live with it? The Free Software folks live with a Free that even allows the big corps to make money and it seems to work.
-
@arnebab Bill Gates ≠ Microsoft. Gates is a human, Microsoft is a corporation ~ an artificial construct no matter what lawmakers say.
-
@arnebab I'm learning; my first novel is !CC by-nc-sa & after 5 years will dedicate it to !PublicDomain ... next one will by by-sa !SelfPub
-
@arnebab !CC Non-commercial is tough one; I think it is a necessary transition for most creators who grew up amidst !copyright propaganda
-
@arnebab ∴ Bill Gates can use my novel as he choses so long as he does not financially profit by it ~ once it is !PD he can do whatever.
-
@laurelrusswurm if MS belongs completely to Gates, then as long as Gates can use it, so can MS
-
@zotz i don’t argue for #nc. I just say that the distinction between company and person is not useful.
-
@laurelrusswurm that’s cool!
-
@laurelrusswurm with the proposed change of #nc to not for companies, Bill Gates could profit. but the BSI could not…
-
@arnebab There are different kinds of companies. Creators often offer services through personal companies because creation is our business…
-
@arnebab A sole proprietorship that sells an artist's services is very different from a multinational corporation that bullies governments
-
@arnebab I confess, I've been quite preoccupied with offline life lately, so I'm unaware of this change in !CC #nc (will have to catch up)
-
@laurelrusswurm it’s just a reform idea floating around
-
In general, I disagree that such a distinction is not useful. Have not pondered deeply in this context.
