   Probably the biggest beneficiary of longer copyright terms is Disney Corp. But are their inflated profits worth the loss to society as a whole?
   
   Think about this: “Stairway to Heaven” was released in 1971. In 2020, the last appeal in a copyright lawsuit (alleging plagiarism) was decided. Do we really want people fighting over who has the right to profit from 50 year old works?

     Try making your own videos featuring a character that resembles Mickey. Disney will sue you for everything that you and your ancestors and descendants ever owned or will ever own. This should not be.
