So, best I can tell from the headlines is that #Belarus had its elections yesterday (their time, I think still today [2020-08-09]) US time. There are some large scale protests because Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled since 1994, was expected to cheat and cause himself to be re-elected. Or maybe because he claimed a major victory and is believed to have cheated to make it happen.
