Unfortunately, your unrooted Android is an unholy hybrid of proprietary and FLOSS, likely just as un-wholly trustworthy (which means not trustworthy at all) as the rooting app. In either case, you have to take someone else's word that they did not and would not misuse the power they hold over your device and its OS.
