@moonman Back in the 1970s, I broke the family's fridge / freezer by trying to remove frost & ice with an ice pick. Punctured a coolant line. Hissing and an odor I hadn't smelled before. That was before the old "Freon" coolants were banned, so no idea whether this is what you noticed.
