     We bought a six-pack of sodas recently (the first in *years*), and as my son threw the yoke into the #trash, I remembered aloud: "when I was a kid, we were always told to cut all of those rings because otherwise they'd strangle animals in the oceans..., and I still don't understand why we couldn't just *not dump them in the ocean*. Nobody ever explained that part."
