@jcsesecuneta ...that would protect the work & author from such exploitation & encourage contributing & sharing at the same time
-
I wish people who `love !CC but don't want to be exploited' would just read the licenses—or even the summaries: http://questioncopyright.org/cc-pro
-
@rozzin This is the summary: http://ur1.ca/3ssl0 Linking to a wacky remix nobody's heard of doesn't help your case.
-
"Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work)" http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
-
@rozzin I've read the licenses, I read every license that I use or accept. So this changes what? ;-P
-
At some point I should jump in & say that "copyright is a symptom of capitalism." !FS, !CC, & copyleft are legal hacks to treat that symptom
-
@dhraak That quote from a friend, plus Stallman's "Misinterpreting Copyright" (http://is.gd/2czKJe ) are what most formed my current © views
-
@dhraakellian good quote, but not entirely true. © existed in the USSR. © comes from censorship/power/etc preceding modern ideology. ...
-
@dhraakellian ...legal hack trival part of FS, which would be a crucial movement with or without ©. Some copyleft goes beyond treating ©.
-
@mlinksva FS licenses, I should have said.
-
@mlinksva fair point about censorship, but I'm reminded of the state capitalism theories of the USSR
-
@mlinksva perhaps the ideal purpose of copyright vs. the historical (and ongoing) misuse of it?
-
@dhraakellian fair point about USSR as state capitalism; almost mentioned but [now, didn't] save a dent :-)
-
@dhraakellian yes, as in idealized != reality, only useful as smoke and mirrors obscuring and fetishizing power & control
-
♻ @mlinksva: legal hack trival part of FS, which would be a crucial movement with or without ©. Some copyleft goes beyond treating ©.

@dhraakellian, #capitalism is just a way of empirically determining what society really values, and in what proportions.

@tius @rozzin: @dhraakellian Except it doesn't work so well once there's no scarcity. That's why it fails so often online, maybe?
-
@silner Yeah, maybe.
