   @csolisr XCF is a very bulky format, and not supported by anything except GIMP. (AFAIK)

    @csolisr Sure. But I never got confused by that before. OTOH, I did use Gimp for lots of quick edits of PNG or JPG files...

    @csolisr ... so a very common simple use case for Gimp has been made harder. The explanation seems legalistic at best.
