maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:32:20 EST maiyannah I am trying out the Shoyu iOS client for GNUsocial. I think it's my favourite mobile client thusfar. Maybe we can use the interface for ideas for Custard. /cc @verius -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:22:06 EST maiyannah You know those stereotypical pictures of a writer or artist with a writing desk and a bin fill of crumpled papers beside their desk? If I was writing this by hand, I'd certainly have a bin like that. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:20:38 EST maiyannah Happy with the documentation dump for pA, just wish I was happy with this review, I want to get it done. Trying to edit it down so it doesn't feel rambly without just editing it to nothing. It's rough reviewing a game which is so lacking in actual substance. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:18:00 EST maiyannah @bob Its funny, I run several MUC rooms on my XMPP server, but although people use my server quite a lot, the MUC rooms get used only very rarely. People prefer to talk more privately. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:16:57 EST maiyannah I think there are literally more products sold by The Source that aren't on their website, than are. It's strange. I guess they probably limit their website to products available at ALL of their stores? That would be my assumption anyways. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:15:33 EST maiyannah @bob XMPP MUC does literally everything important Matrix does already, IMO. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:08:51 EST maiyannah @archaeme The Source aka Radio Shack sells these really nifty loop connector things that you can string wires through, and have adhesive pads to stick them to things, they were a godsend for me when I was properly able to do the handy(wo)man thing. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:07:28 EST maiyannah Mostly reposting that last one to try to help them overcome federation issues, heh. -
mcscx (mcscx)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:03:45 EST mcscx @n2admin some issues here: http://qttr.at/1meh Lets hope replying to you works -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:06:25 EST maiyannah @archaeme If you can at all, try to attach it to the top of ducts. In high humidity situations, condensation can pool at the bottom. Sure, the cable's insulated, but its better just not to chance it. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:03:19 EST maiyannah @archaeme Proper insulation is part of the CAT6 standard so if you have those you're probably fine. It was permissible but not recommended in the CAT5E standard to have insulation that can expose conductors outside of the data pins, so that can get you into problems with 5E (and also solve certain DIY problems outside of the scope of this discussion, in some cases, eheh) -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:01:15 EST maiyannah @takeshitakenji Now stick a bridge rectifier on and you have a proper DC supply. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 18:00:35 EST maiyannah @archaeme Actually fishing it through the ducts can be a very effective way to keep it off floors and out of the way, if you don't mind the elbow grease. Just keep in mind that you'll want to be careful about it if the ductwork is aluminum and not PVC, and that you're using proper double-insulated cable. Most ethernet cables will be, but some of the super cheap ones are not. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 17:57:31 EST maiyannah @takeshitakenji @archaeme Yeah for downstairs here I just ran conduit. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 17:57:15 EST maiyannah @lambadalambda Thanks! -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 17:55:24 EST maiyannah @archaeme The problem in my experience trying to set this up in a couple of friends' places is the conductors in old houses tend to have quite high resistance compared to what is expected in such a setup which ends up in transmission lost. There's ways you can overcome this electrically but its usually easier just to run new cables. -
maiyannah (maiyannah)'s status on Sunday, 01-Jan-2017 17:53:32 EST maiyannah @lambadalambda I'd take a look at Rust since a couple of my friends can't shut up about it, if no one else wants it.
