@purplehippo A lot of them just can't compete, because they try to compete LAWFULLY. Amazon on the other hand, doesn't care about breaking the law, and regulators haven't gone after them, so they come off much cheaper. -

"Today, Google announces that it has joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation as a gold member. This is yet another example of the search giant's open source focus."
Open source focus huh. So why isn't its core product open source? -

@purplehippo You'd be amazed how many people just don't care about mistreatment of people until that person's them. Personally, while I don't involve myself in a lot of fights over that, I do think that one should hardly be surprised. -

The last few versions of mysql have seemed really shit for game-breaking crashes and bugs. I might personally regress back a few versions before one of them bites me in the ass. -

Perhaps it is, as many things like this, a realization that someone you gave the benefit of the doubt really is that bad. In which case one must wonder, why did you doubt in the first place? Amazon never positioned itself as some sort of worker's rights champion, to say the least, and indeed has loudly petitioned governments to erode worker's rights. -

Not really sure why people are surprised about the tent city around the Fife Amazon warehouse. There have been complaints about Amazon's working conditions as long as there's been an Amazon. Treating their workers poorly is ingrained in Amazon's corporate culture. -

GitHub is many things, but a "coder's paradise" is not one of them. -

The law is largely a means of relief when something bad happens, it can't really prevent something bad from happening to begin with. -

@bob I feel that if you're relying on the good nature of advesaries to prevent intrusions, you've not done your job at all. The law is the means by which you MIGHT get relief if someone hacks you; it isn't going to prevent a hack from actually occurring. -

@trev A lot of certain segments is very tribalistic; only the "good people" should get to use free software. Of course, such views are incompatible with the Four Freedoms. -

@trev Anyone can use it, but I don't have to be their support department. The guy that runs Wrongthink is a decent enough guy though, so when he was looking for help to get the instance unexploded I said sure, I can lend a hand.
