"What went wrong with polling?"
Probably that they determined the answer first based on political biases and then cooked the books to make the poll results support that conclusion. -

Hell, in case people forget, me and my wife Liz disagree on a fair bit politically really, big thing that is worth mentioning being Brexit and all, me being Remain, her being Leave. Guess what. We're still together. We're still happy. We still fuck. We still love and care for eachother. "But Katie you and her disagree on topics!" I know. But it'd be pretty stupi… -

I will phase into the new gitlab by maintaining both repos for a bit until Im confident in its stability, at which point I will announce the discontinuance of the old repo with some notice before it is deleted. -

I have way too many things to do with postActiv and way too little time, as is, to accomodate external forces that can't get their stuff in order. I will make reasonable accomodations. I am not going to sink a bunch of time into third party stuff. postActiv is nowheres near mature enough for that to be a focus. -

@inmysocks At IBM a notice at one of my coworkers offices read "Expletives are the programmers sedative"
I find a lot of truth in that :) -

@inmysocks Seems to be going fine, just takes a while to get the right versions together and compile things and all that fun stuff, but thanks :) -

Many people suggested in XMPP when I said that to use less intensive git management system like gogs but frankly, I'm quite fond of gitlab, so I don't really mind going through the fuss to get it going beyond the fact that it is indeed fuss.
Still gonna bitch like the snarky bint I am though, it's my thing and it's cathartic. -

@andstatus @thefaico This is what my tired brain is trying to get at - I can add that, but applications will still have to adopt the use of ti. It is not something I can make work automatically with no changes on the application side. -

@andstatus @thefaico As I said, I do want to repurpose the rate limiting code to create an API endpoint that someone can check to see if a notice with the same text already exists. However, it is still on applications to check that endpoint, once I have written it :) -

@inmysocks Probably what I'll do, and then whoever wants an account can bother me or whoever else I end up trusting with admin privs. -

@inmysocks It failed when I tried it on Centos and also crashed my database, so I'm doing it the old-fashioned way and compiling everything it needs from source, on a seperate VM for good measure. -

@gargron The centos omnibus package is defective and fails. It's why I didn't do this earlier. -

I will probably handle the accounts on my own gitlab on a per-invite basis. I wonder if it has a system for that. It kills spam dead and then I don't have to worry about giving perms to people because they're people I know are good.
