I might try and get the queue daemons working here once more, to at least get some of the snappiness the nginx instance has.
I could make do without qvitter if I really had to, but the API malfunctioning was the dealbreaker. I will have to fix that. -

@takeshitakenji Hey, I can see my mentions again because I can use qvitter now, that's nice. -

@verius Yeah this is a known issue in gitlab, it's why I said you might have to remake them. -

I've been at this since I got up though, and classic DOES work so I'm going to lay off it for now and game a bit/work on this review. -

Might set up remote SQL on the original site (I kept it there for now, always do until I know something is working right) and see if the problem persists using the old DB. -

Explicitly set mysqld server as utf-8 by default. I'm pretty sure it's php at this point since I can interact with mysql in utf8 fine. -

And I see it properly when I view the notices in classic, as well. Grr. -

This is frustrating. As far as I can ascertain everything about this should be UTF-8 encoding. -

@normandy Been having to fix stuff on the instance so it's been up and down as I fiddle with settings. Notices will have been lost as a result. -

No dice.
Well, I got a review to write, but I'll probably just put it on apache and see if that's any better then, because that's the only difference between the two environments I can think of and there doesn't seem to be any meaningful error messages (qvitter keeps up the classic tradition of GNU social after all) -

I doubt that will have changed anything with qvitter but going to give it one last hack. -

Optimized things about as good as they're going to get with nginx I think, short of seperating images to another domain, which would not be easy to pull off with the way GS/PA is right now.
