@moonoffsite @lambadalambda I've not used Redis specifically, I've used other caching systems (mostly Varnish), but what you're saying rings true rather agnostic of the specific caching you're using. -

@katiekats Ironically, the Conservative Party of Canada were doing a lot to defend the neutrality of the web. With the Liberals in now, there's a significant push to censor online speech to filter out "online harassment" and "hate speech" -

@katiekats British Conservatives resent what they cannot control. If its something they cannot subvert or control, it should be destroyed as far as they are concerned. -

@takeshitakenji @moonoffsite Everything you feel about Maven I probably have similar feelings for, about Composer. -

@katiekats That was going to get through under Cameron anyways so it's not exactly news or specifically a Theresa May thing, but she definitely wasn't going to stop it either, no. -

@moonoffsite @takeshitakenji Java's environment is simply too untenable on many distributions to support reliably, even if there weren't adoption prroblems like that. -

@takeshitakenji @moonoffsite If you're going to go down the hyper-performance high-availability rabbit hole, you may as well start using C/C++. -

@takeshitakenji @moonoffsite In all reality, I don't mind it but I don't find many use cases for it where another language doesn't actually end up being better to use. -

Okay, so I moved the exceptions of non-optional, non-disable-able modules into the core classes, addressing issue 58 - https://git.postactiv.com/postActiv/postActiv/issues/58
This included OStatus, OpprotunisticQM, and Webfinger, none of which you can really disable anyways, so they will eventually be folded into the core software. -

@moonoffsite @takeshitakenji I'm just going to quote a poster at the IBM office I used to work at: "If you want your software to stop, use Go." -

The organization I'm moving towards, is to have the core software be just that, the modules be optional parts of the software included with the software that can be enabled or disabled freely without things fucking up, and the plugins being third-party stuff entirely in its own repo we don't officially support directly. A lot of stuff in modules will probably be mer… -

Not sure why they have the ActivityVerb stuff as plugins tbqh. It's so ingrained into the code and more notably the protocol that to remove it you'd have to rewrite everything. -

@gameragodzilla Depends on whether they have aspirations towards cinema. A SAG blacklist will basically blue ball you out of everything but the indie circuit. Its the kind of industry blacklisting that should be illegal and probably is, but because they have a lot of money they get away with. -

We have a cronish variant in opprotunisticQM already so I might consider having it do cleanup tasks on occasion. -
