Probably the biggest thing I've learned in life - and something I still struggle with - is not investing myself greatly in people in the hopes that they do the same. They rarely do. Best not to stick your neck out unless they've proven reliable. And reliable isn't always the same as simply trustworthy. I really wish that weren't the way she were, but it is. -

@degeneracy When you teach people the way to get attention and advance is to throw tempertantrums and be loud, one can only expect histrionics. -

@purplehippo The article spends an entire paragraph describing the new macbook, and then asks "what windows laptops even come close?" Try harder with negative native advertising next time, guys. -

@degeneracy The psych trained these days is basically snake oil anyways. If you want to know how bad it's gotten, we're talking about a field of medicine that is now considered a liberal arts degree.
Personally, I'm holding out for the mass suicide art installation piece. -

@degeneracy Psych is a field with basically five general reasons people get in:
1] They're broke and they want fixed
2] They used to be broke and they don't want others to have to deal with what they did
3] They want to fix others
4] They want a position of control over other people's lives
5] Dolla dolla bill yo -

@degeneracy *rarer motivations -

@degeneracy Psych was weird for me. I'm not going to pretend I had grand motivations of fixing all the broken people or bleeding heart shit like me. It was selfishly motivated. I wanted to fix myself, because I realized a lot of the shit I was doing at the time was self-destructive, and I wanted to understand it. It's one of the rarer motivates as far as secondary education goes, I imagine.
