Another example of why one should not let #corpocentric sites be the main locus of one's postings. Best to !selfhost (or at least use #federated sites) and to use centralized sites only to link to your content posted elsewhere. http://url.federati.net/hXUrX -

@lanodan_frndk @bobjonkman Using longer passwords also serves a second purpose: I know I cannot remember them, so I must always use a password database for generation, storage, and entering passwords, which greatly improves !security. I've been trying to convince family members to likewise use the longest-possible randomly-generated passwords for exactly that reason. -

@lanodan_frndk @bobjonkman It is difficult for users to know whether a particular service uses a bad hashing algorithm. Also difficult to know whether the service uses a poor implementation of a better algorithm. !security. -

Bought K, a co-worker in one of $EMPLOYER's #JCMO offices, a !raspi Zero. With power supply and cables, it was about $25. He was as excited as a sixteen year-old when you hand him the car keys for the first time. -

"Simone exited his pickup, appeared to be kneeling on the ground when officers ran up and a physical confrontation began. Video from Sky5 showed a struggle between the police and Simone which lasted for at least 15 seconds." Appears that police #thugs beat a non-resisting perpetrator, despite news chopper videotaping overhead. Probably won't be any repercussions, either. -

@cyberczar @betafive @orobouros @bobjonkman2 @dragnucs I'm pretty sure there is some instance-blocking functionality already in !Gnusocial. Back when Evan's company was the primary host of !StatusNet, some spammer instances arose that started randomly mentioning people by their full #webfinger addresses. After a short time, this stopped happening. That tells me that the spammers' instances were blocked. -
