   @arunisaac Primarily because if it's a distributed system which requires you to store any data put into it (albeit you can prune some of it for endusers), anyone using it will be complicit in distribution of sensitive/private information, child pornography and whatnot whenever people post stuff like that. Because you can't censor it, and everyone needs to use the same blockchain.

    @hikerus Make wordpress act the way you prefer then. We present the featured image because that is what gets linked explicitly to represent the post. We don't crawl through the post looking for <img> tags.

    @hikerus What GNU social does is to embed stuff when link endpoints have oEmbed, OpenGraph or are direct image links
    
    And we, on WordPress, are exposing only the featured image through oEmbed. This is why GS is displaying only the "featured image"

    @einebiene I guess it works for someone with lots to do, like a single parent that panics when no clean clothes are found. But personally I'd rather use that money to treat myself to something good (as reward) if I really thought washing clothes was a lot of work.
